I finished my 6ft Scrappy Scroll earlier 🥳 but I was trying to find the best way to show it off. I eventually settled on doing a video. I might try a panoramic photo once I've worked out how to do that properly, my phone wasn't being very cooperative 🙄
Anyhow tis done. I've stitched a purple felt backing on it to make it a bit stiffer. You might be thinking now, "why didn't he put some edging on it? Make it a bit smarter like." Well I have my reasons.
I use mostly recycled fabric from old clothes, curtains, even table clothes but mostly denim jeans. I'm one of the "woke hippy types" that's bothered about things like the world falling apart & all this polluting being a bad thing and all. 😞
My dear friend Loretta, who makes beautiful stuff out of plastic rubbish washed up on the beach, told me I should make it a bit more obvious that I care and that I should be proud of doing it. A statement like. Well I have this gallery exhibition coming up and I've made a few pieces already and I thought a Scrappy Scroll wouldn't be a bad idea.
I have used a lot of different motifs but they have a commonality around Irish nature & folklore. I think I'll be "fraying up" the edges a bit more but for now I'm happy enough. 🤠👍 I like to let pieces settle for a bit after I've finished them. I'll hang her up in my studio for awhile so I can get used to it before I make any final decision.
Anyhow I have a few other projects to be getting on with so I'll say my goodbyes to you, I hope you likes it & give us a heart there will ya? ❤️
